The PoX-5 hardfork upgrades Proof of Transfer (PoX) — the consensus mechanism where miners spend BTC to mine Stacks blocks — and lays the foundation for Bitcoin Staking. Here's what changed and what you need to do to keep earning.
What Happened to Your Stacked STX?
As with prior PoX upgrades, all staked STX automatically unlocked when PoX-5 went live. This isn't a bug or an issue with your account — it's expected behavior for a PoX hardfork.
You'll still receive your rewards for the completed cycle. Unlocking doesn't affect rewards already earned.
Action Required: Restake Before Block 962,050
Because your STX has unlocked, it's no longer earning BTC rewards until you restake it. To keep earning from the first PoX-5 cycle, you need to restake before Bitcoin block 962,050.
If you miss this deadline, you'll simply skip the next cycle's rewards.
For Xverse Users
- Update your Xverse Wallet to the latest version (v2.7.0) — this version supports PoX-5.
- Re-delegate your funds to Xverse Pool before block 962,050 to continue earning.
