I sent BTC to my Xverse wallet but I can't see it — what happened?

If you sent Bitcoin to your Xverse wallet and it isn't showing up, the most common reason is that the BTC was sent to the wrong address type. Xverse gives you multiple Bitcoin addresses, and each one only receives funds sent to that specific address.

Why does Xverse have more than one Bitcoin address?

Xverse supports three Bitcoin address types, each tied to a different standard:

  • Native SegWit (bc1q...) — the default address for most Bitcoin transactions. Lower fees, widely supported.
  • Nested SegWit (3...) — also used for Bitcoin transactions. Higher fees, not recommended.
  • Ordinals/Taproot (bc1p...) — used for storing Ordinals, Runes, and BRC-20 tokens. BTC sent to this address will not appear in Total Balance

What Included in Total Balance?

Your Total Balance in Xverse provides a complete snapshot of all assets in your wallet. This amount reflects the combined value of all Bitcoin, Bitcoin assets (such as Runes & BRC-20), and Layer-2 assets (if applicable), including:

  • Spendable Bitcoin in your Bitcoin Addresses (both Nested Segwit and Native Segwit)
  • Value of BRC-20 tokens & Runes (assets stored in your Ordinals/Taproot address)
  • SIP-10 tokens value within the Stacks ecosystem.

How to View My Balance Breakdown by Address?

In your wallet, select Bitcoin > Breakdown. You’ll see the Bitcoin amounts held in each address.

I sent BTC to an Ordinals (Taproot) address by mistake — is it lost?

No. If BTC was sent to your Ordinals/Taproot (bc1p...) address, it is in your wallet. You can transfer it back to your preferred Bitcoin address for general transactions. Check out our guide here: How to Recover BTC from Your Ordinals Address (Taproot) in Xverse?
