How to Recover BTC from Your Ordinals Address (Taproot) in Xverse?

If you’ve mistakenly sent Bitcoin (BTC) to an Ordinals address or if you’ve imported your Taproot wallet (address starting with bc1p) into Xverse, you can view it in your Balance Breakdown. However, these funds need to be transferred to your Preferred Bitcoin Address to be accessible for standard Bitcoin transactions.

What is the Ordinals Address in Xverse?

Xverse Wallet supports different types of Bitcoin addresses for managing various assets securely. The Ordinals address in Xverse uses a Taproot address (starting with bc1p), designed primarily to store ordinal inscriptions, BRC-20 tokens, rare sats collections & runes. This type of address keeps your collectibles and Bitcoin in separate places to avoid accidental spending of ordinal assets during Bitcoin transactions.

What is a Preferred Bitcoin Address?

Xverse allows you to select your Preferred Bitcoin Address for sending and receiving Bitcoin. For most users, Native SegWit is recommended due to its lower fees and compatibility with a wide range of platforms. However, you can continue to use Nested SegWit if preferred, especially if you have existing connections with dApps or marketplaces.

How to Set Your Preferred Bitcoin Address

  • In the Xverse app, go to Settings > Advanced > Preferred Bitcoin Address.
  • Choose between Native SegWit or Nested SegWit.

Note
