Is TAP Protocol Supported In Xverse Wallet?

TAP Protocol is currently not supported in Xverse. This article explains what that means for your TAP-based tokens, which Bitcoin asset standards Xverse does support, and what your options are if you hold a TAP asset.

Is TAP Supported?

No. Xverse does not currently support the TAP Protocol, including all tokens that use this standard — such as NAT and DMT-NAT.

If you hold a TAP-based token:

  • Token balance does not appear in your Xverse wallet,
  • The used transfer inscription may show up under Other Collectibles, holding no value.
  • TAP assets cannot be displayed, sent, or managed in-app.

Note

"Unsupported" reflects what Xverse currently handles — not whether a token has value or is legitimate. Supported standards may expand over time.

Which Bitcoin Assets Does Xverse Support?

Xverse has built-in support for the most widely used Bitcoin asset standards:

  • Ordinals (inscriptions). View, receive, and send individual inscriptions — images, text, and other content inscribed onto Bitcoin.
  • Runes. View, receive, and send Runes tokens.
  • BRC-20. Hold and transfer BRC-20 tokens. Sending a BRC-20 involves creating a transfer inscription first, which Xverse guides you through.

These assets live in your Ordinals address (your Taproot address, starting with bc1p), separate from the Bitcoin you use for payments.

Tip

Always keep a little BTC in your Native Segwit/Nested Segwit address to cover the network fees needed when you move these assets.

What Can I Do With My TAP-Based Tokens?

Your asset isn't lost just because Xverse doesn't support its standard — it still lives on-chain at your address. Since Xverse can't manage TAP tokens, we recommend doing your own research (DYOR) to find a wallet provider that supports the TAP Protocol.

  • Research a TAP-compatible wallet. Look for a wallet built specifically for the TAP standard. A compatible wallet can typically access your token using the same recovery phrase.
  • Import your recovery phrase carefully. Only ever enter your Secret Recovery Phrase into a wallet you fully trust, and never share it with anyone.
