How to Activate Your Starknet Account in Xverse

Xverse now supports Starknet, a high-performance Layer 2 network that brings scalable Bitcoin DeFi and dApps to your fingertips.

Before you can send tokens or interact with dApps on Starknet using Xverse, your Starknet account must be activated. This activation process is required because Starknet uses account abstraction, meaning your wallet address must be deployed as a smart contract before it can perform any on-chain actions.

What is Starknet Account Activation?

Unlike Bitcoin or Stacks, Starknet uses an account abstraction model, meaning your wallet address isn’t usable until it’s deployed (i.e., activated) on-chain. This one-time activation allows you to:

  • Send tokens and interact with dApps on Starknet
  • Sign and confirm transactions

How to Activate Your Starknet Account in Xverse

Your Starknet account in Xverse will be automatically activated when you sign and submit your first outgoing transaction (such as sending WBTC or STRK). Until that point, your wallet can receive assets but cannot interact on-chain.

To activate the account, your Starknet wallet must hold some tokens on Starknet network to initiate a transaction. You can fund your wallet by:

Complete Your First Outgoing Transaction

Once your Starknet wallet is funded, follow these steps to complete your first outgoing transaction and activate your Starknet account:

  1. Go to the Starknet token page in Xverse and tap “Send”

    (Alternatively, you can select “Send” from the main wallet dashboard and choose a Starknet token)

  2. Enter the recipient Starknet address or select one from your Address Book
  3. Specify the amount you wish to transfer
  4. Carefully review the transaction details, then tap “Confirm” to proceed

After confirmation, your Starknet account will be deployed and activated on-chain. Activation is complete once the transaction is confirmed.

How Long Does Activation Take?

Activation occurs once your first transaction is confirmed on Starknet. This typically takes a few minutes, but may take longer during periods of network congestion.

Important Notes

  • Only send Starknet-supported tokens or STRK to your Xverse Starknet address (0x…). Do not send BTC or tokens from other networks.
  • If you’re funding your Starknet wallet for the first time, you may see a warning like “recipient address not deployed”. This is expected as your address hasn’t been activated yet. If the address is correct, it’s safe to proceed.
