Xverse now offers a detailed breakdown of your Bitcoin balance across different wallet addresses. This feature helps you track exactly where your assets are stored, including spendable Bitcoin and other Bitcoin-based assets (including ordinals inscriptions, rare sats, BRC-20 and Runes). Here’s a guide to help you understand what each section represents.
Total Balance Overview
Your Total Balance in Xverse provides a complete snapshot of all assets in your wallet. This amount reflects the combined value of all Bitcoin, Bitcoin assets (such as Runes & BRC-20), and Layer-2 assets (if applicable), including:
- Spendable Bitcoin in your Bitcoin Addresses (both Nested Segwit and Native Segwit)
- Value of BRC-20 tokens & Runes
- SIP-10 tokens value within the Stacks ecosystem.
Bitcoin Balance Breakdown by Address
When viewing your Bitcoin balance in the dashboard, you’ll see a Bitcoin Balance Breakdown section. This reflects the Bitcoin amounts held in each wallet address, as follows:
- Preferred Bitcoin Address (Nested Segwit or Native Segwit): This address holds your spendable Bitcoin for regular transactions.
- Ordinals Address (Taproot): The BTC amount shown here represent the unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs) linked to your Ordinals assets like Ordinal inscriptions, rare sats, and runes.
Why Do I See BTC in My Ordinals Address Now?
Previously, Bitcoin amounts stored in the Ordinals address (Taproot) weren’t visible in Xverse wallet. Users could only see the values of their BRC-20 tokens and Runes. With Bitcoin’s UTXO model, each transaction creates unspent output/s (UTXOs), which accumulate in different addresses within your wallet. As a result, any transaction involving Ordinals or Runes will change the BTC balance in the Ordinals address.
By showing the Bitcoin amount as the total of all UTXOs linked to each address, Xverse provides full transparency and enables you to have better control and understanding of your assets.
What To Do if Your Balance Is Stuck in the Ordinals Address?
If you restore a Taproot-only wallet in Xverse or mistakenly send spendable Bitcoin to your Ordinals address, your funds will appear as a Common sats bundle under the Rare Sats tab. You can transfer it back to your preferred Bitcoin address if needed. Check out our guide here: How to Recover BTC from Your Ordinals Address (Taproot) in Xverse?
