Why can't I use Xverse and Ledger Live with the same Ledger device?

Xverse lets you manage the same Bitcoin accounts from your Ledger device as Ledger Live. You will be able to receive and store Bitcoin, Ordinal inscriptions and BRC-20 tokens in your Xverse connected Ledger device. However, Ledger Live currently does not display the Ordinal inscriptions stored in your account. We do not recommend using both Xverse and Ledger Live with the same device.

This applies to other Bitcoin wallets that leverage Ledger as well. If the wallet does not explicitly support Ordinals, you should not use it with the same Ledger device you are using with Xverse to store Ordinals assets. Ordinals appear as regular Bitcoin to wallets that are not Ordinals-aware. This creates the possibility that you may unintentionally spend your ordinals in a Bitcoin transaction.

However, if you’re an advanced user and know what you’re doing, you can set a passphrase on your Ledger before you connect with Xverse in order to generate a separate set of accounts thereby avoiding accidental loss of assets.

See the following article: How do I use the passphrase feature on Ledger to generate different accounts from the same device?
